Following its earlier provision of USD 5 million in humanitarian assistance in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the recent devastating earthquake in Venezuela, the government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide additional humanitarian assistance worth USD 3.5 million in view of the increasing scale of the damage.
Of this additional assistance, USD 3 million will be provided through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support debris removal activities to facilitate the swift return of affected communities to normalcy.
In addition, at the request of the government of Venezuela, the government of the Republic of Korea has also decided to provide 30 tons of temporary shelters (family tents), worth approximately USD 500,000, as in-kind assistance to accommodate displaced persons.
The government of the Republic of Korea will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to countries and people affected by natural disasters.
