
The government of the Republic of Korea welcomes the memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreed upon between the United States and Iran on June 15 as an important step toward stability and peace in the region. The ROK government highly appreciates the leadership of President Trump, as well as the diplomatic efforts of the negotiating parties and relevant countries, which made this agreement possible.
The government of the Republic of Korea hopes that the full implementation of this agreement and the successful conclusion of further negotiations among the relevant parties will provide momentum for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue and restoring sustainable peace and stability in the region.
In particular, the ROK government hopes that all vessels, including Korean vessels affected by restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and their crew members, will be able to safely resume navigation as soon as possible. The government will continue to actively participate in the efforts of the international community, including the United States, to safeguard the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
