Côte d’Ivoire and the United Kingdom look forward to diversifying their bilateral cooperation

On August 18, 2026, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nialé Kaba, met with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, John Marshall, in Abidjan. The discussions focused on reviewing bilateral cooperation and identifying opportunities to strengthen and diversify the partnership between Abidjan and London.

Not much was revealed except the two sides exchanged views on current regional and international issues and welcomed their convergence on several international matters. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to consolidating friendly relations and developing a mutually beneficial strategic partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and the United Kingdom.

Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation

On August 17, 2026, the President of Senate, Kandia Camara, received Hadja Makalé Camara, Vice-President of Guinea’s National Assembly, in Abidjan for a friendship and working visit. The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the two countries’ parliamentary institutions and creating opportunities for greater cooperation and exchange of experience.

One can argue that the visit highlights the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in deepening bilateral relations between Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire. Discussions between the two institutions are expected to contribute to closer collaboration, particularly through the sharing of legislative practices and institutional experiences.

Singapore- Côte d’Ivoire : Robust International raised $20 million to expand cashew processing in Côte d’Ivoire

According to Sikafinance, Singapore-based agribusiness company Robust International has secured a $20 million debt financing facility to build a second cashew processing plant in Côte d’Ivoire. The investment will finance a new factory in Toumodi with an annual processing capacity of 15,000 tonnes, as well as two cashew aggregation and storage centers in Bouaké and Toumodi, designed to improve the company’s supply chain and reduce its dependence on leased warehouses.

Actually, the project may represent a significant boost for Côte d’Ivoire’s strategy of increasing local value addition in the cashew sector. Expected to source cashew nuts from approximately 1,500 smallholder farmers, the investment could create around 510 jobs and generate an estimated $79.2 million in additional export revenue. It also supports the government’s ambition to increase domestic processing of cashew production to 50% by 2030, strengthening industrial development, employment opportunities, and the country’s position in the global cashew value chain.
