Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Canada

On August 15, the Ottawa Korean Community Association hosted a ceremony at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Canada to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day.

Approximately 100 people attended the ceremony, including members of the Korean community. Among the participants were Wooju Jeon, President of the Korean Community Association of Ottawa; Youngsun Cho, President of the Ottawa Korean Evergreen Society; and Moonjong Han, President of the Association of Korean Heritage Month.

Ambassador Lim Ki-mo delivered President Lee Jae Myung’s Liberation Day address on his behalf. Together with the attendees, he honoured those who fought for Korea's independence and reflected on the meaning of Liberation Day.

The ceremony was followed by an awards presentation for the Liberation Day Drawing Contest. Ambassador Lim presented certificates to the young winners in recognition of their outstanding artwork.
