Welcome to the website of
the Embassy of the Republic of
Korea to Canada.
Canada is a longstanding friend of Korea, with deep ties dating back to the 19th century when Canadian missionaries first made their way to Korea’s shores. Later, during the Korean War, Canada dispatched 26,791 troops to stand alongside the Korean people. This year is particularly meaningful as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong, in which Canadian soldiers fought with great courage and sacrifice. These historic bonds continue to serve as a solid foundation for the ever-deepening “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” between our two countries across a wide range of fields.
In 2025, the first year following the inauguration of new governments in both countries, reciprocal visits between the two leaders led to meaningful achievements in both security and economic cooperation, including the establishment of a “Security and Defence Cooperation Partnership” and the commencement of Canadian LNG exports to Korea. At the same time, Korean culture, represented by the global popularity of the Korean Wave, has been increasingly embraced by Canadians, further expanding our people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', directed by a Korean-Canadian filmmaker, stands as a notable example of this growing cultural connection.
The Korean community in Canada has made valuable contributions to the development of Korea-Canada relations. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all members of our diaspora. The Embassy will continue its efforts to support and work closely with the community to further advance bilateral relations.
You will find up-to-date information about Korea, Korea-Canada relations, consular/visa services and travel information. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at canada@mofa.go.kr.
Thank you for your visit and I wish you all good health and happiness.
