Extension of Temporary Exemption from K-ETA (until December 31, 2026)

At the 10th National Tourism Strategy Meeting, the Korean government announced three major tourism innovation strategies aimed at growing into a global tourism powerhouse. As part of this initiative, it has been decided to extend the temporary exemption period for the application of K-ETA for certain countries, including Canada, by one additional year, until December 31, 2026.

However, even nationals of countries eligible for the exemption may still apply for K-ETA if they wish to receive the benefits associated with K-ETA approval, such as exemption from completing an arrival card upon entry into the Republic of Korea. In such cases, an application fee will be charged. Previously issued travel authorizations remain valid until their expiration dates, and already issued K-ETA approvals are non-refundable.

※ (Exempt countries/regions) Canada is exempt; for other countries, please check the K-ETA official website for details.
