President Yoon Suk Yeol, who recently returned from a state visit to the U.S., on April 30 called the bilateral alliance with America "God's blessing and a valuable legacy for our future generations."

Senior Secretary to the President for Public Relations Kim Eun-hye said in a news release that the president retweeted U.S. President Joe Biden's Twitter post mentioning the bilateral alliance and added the comment in English.

"Don't know how to thank @POTUS (U.S. President Joe Biden) and @FLOTUS (first lady Jill Biden) enough for their truly warmest welcome," President Yoon said in his reply.

He called relations between both sides "a blood alliance forged by the sacrifice of our young soldiers" and an "alliance of freedom and justice."

"President Yoon during his state visit to the U.S. demonstrated the philosophy and basis of the pledge he made in his inauguration speech to rebuild the nation owned by the people and based on liberal democracy and a market economy," Secretary Kim said.

"On the first anniversary of this administration, this was an opportunity to announce the beginning of new changes in the Republic of Korea, including the country's relations with the U.S."

While President Yoon was flying home, President Biden on April 30 said on his official Twitter account, "The United States and Republic of Korea alliance wasn't born out of shared borders, but shared beliefs: Democracy, liberty, security, and above all – freedom."

President Biden also posted a minute and 42 seconds video of moments from President Yoon's visit, including their summit talks.

In the video, President Biden said, "Today, we celebrate the ironclad alliance, shared vision of our future, and the deep friendship that unites the Republic of Korea and the United States. Over the past seven decades, our alliance has grown stronger and more capable."
