President Lee Jae Myung will visit the United States from August 24 to 26 at the invitation of President Donald J. Trump to hold a ROK-U.S. summit.

This summit will mark the first in-person meeting between the two leaders, during which they will discuss ways to develop the ROK-U.S. alliance into a future-oriented comprehensive strategic alliance in response to the changing international security and economic environment.

The leaders will also discuss measures to cooperate on building peace and achieving denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, while further strengthening a solid combined defense posture of the two countries.

Based on the recent tariff negotiation, the two leaders are also expected to discuss ways to further enhance bilateral economic cooperation in manufacturing sectors such as semiconductors, batteries, and shipbuilding, as well as to strengthen economic security partnerships in advanced technologies and critical minerals.
