Commemorative Cultural Performance for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations

between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of The Gambia

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, H.E. Mr. Hyuk-woon KWON, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to The Gambia (resident in Senegal), hosted a special cultural performance at the Ebunjan Theatre in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of The Gambia.

The Ambassador brought together The Gambians, including the Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Korean community in The Gambia. The evening served as a meaningful occasion to reflect on the long-standing friendship between the two countries and to share hopes for future cooperation.

The highlight of the evening was a captivating performance by the Korean traditional dance troupe Art Stage DAOL, who showcased Korea’s rich cultural heritage and artistic dynamism, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.

In his remarks, Ambassador KWON emphasized that over the past 60 years, Korea and The Gambia have built a close and cooperative relationship based on mutual respect and shared values such as human rights and democracy.

The commemoration not only celebrated the historical milestone of 60 years of diplomatic ties, but also reaffirmed that Korea and The Gambia are building a true partnership for the future, ready to embark on the next six decades together.
