Call for 2025 Youth Camp for ASEAN & Friends’ Engagement (YCAFE)

<CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - Y Cafe 2025>

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea is pleased to host the "Youth Camp for ASEAN and Friends’ Engagement (YCAFE)” in 2025. The program aims to bring together ASEAN and Korean youth who are interested in promoting ASEAN-Korea cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The main objectives of the programs are (i) promote closer ASEAN-Korea partnership through increased understanding and awareness among the youth in the region, (ii) raise awareness on the common challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region and identify the role of youth in promoting peace and prosperity, (iii) build networks and facilitate exchange and communication among the youths of ASEAN and Korea. We look forward to seeing you in Seoul!



1. Recruitment Overview


○ ASEAN Participants: ASEAN Youth who are recommended by ROK Embassies in Southeast Asia

○ Requirements

    - (under) graduate level university students or employees from ASEAN Member States (between 19~29 years old)

    - commitment to the entire program

    - fluent in English

    - interested in ASEAN-Korea relations, developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

○ Activities: Team discussions on given topics, research, work on policy proposals on cultural cooperation, cultural programs

○ Documents Needed: Application form & Privacy Waiver(attached herewith), Copy of the passport, Certificate of Enrollment, Documentary proof of experience (if applicable) , Self-introduction Video (1~2 minute)

○ How to apply: Submit the application form to Korean Embassy in your city

                                Please submit the document and video to seupark19@mofa.go.kr by  June 18, 2025.



2. Program Overview


○ Program: Youth Camp for ASEAN & Friends’ Engagement (YCAFE)

○ Date: August 3 ~ 8, 2025

○ Venue: Orakai Daehakro Hotel(180 Yulgok-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, ROK) (TBC)

○ Hosted by: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea

○ Participants: 50 Youth from ROK(10), ASEAN(35)(including YSEALI* alumni) and US(5)

     * YSEALI: Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative

○ Team Composition: 5 people 1 team (Total 10 teams, randomly assigned)

○ Agenda: ASEAN in talk with K-Culture

○ Official Language: English

○ Benefits

- Certificate of Participation / Award for the Best Team

- Participation costs (transportation, meal and board) are borne by the organizer

○ Schedule 

    


3. Note


○ All documents that are submitted for application will not be returned.

○ Citation required for all references on external sources.

○ Additional information (Passport numbers, emergency contact, and dietary restrictions etc) will be collected from participants upon the final announcement of the selected participants.
