Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Philippines

On Thursday, May 8, Ambassador Lee hosted a dinner at the residence in honor of Undersecretary Reynaldo Mapagu of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO). Also in attendance were executives from the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK) Veterans Association, Inc. (PVAI) and the Philippines Chapter of the Korean Veterans Association, representatives from Show Biz Town, and actress Ye Ji-won.

During the event, Ambassador Lee commemorated the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War and acknowledged the Philippines’ significant contribution as the first and largest Asian country to send troops (7,420) to support South Korea during the war. He expressed deep gratitude and emphasized the importance of continued growth in bilateral relations between the two nations.

The attendees shared a mutual commitment to further strengthening the historical ties between Korea and the Philippines through the production of a film related to the Korean War. They also agreed to enhance veterans’ cooperation through ongoing cultural exchanges.
