2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U)

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Philippines is pleased to share the new guidelines for the 2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U) Program. Interested applicants are advised to carefully review the information provided below: 


1. Number of Quota for the Program: One (1) for GKS (General); One (1) for R-GKS

2. Schedule of Application and Selection Process  

  • Application Period: September 15 (Mon) at 11:00 to September 30 (Tue) at 18:00

  • Deadline of Submission: September 30 (Tue) until 18:00 

  • Announcement of Selected Candidate for Interview: October 13 (Mon) 

  • Interview: October 15 (Wed) Time and mode of interview will be relayed accordingly. 

  • Announcement of Successful Candidate: October 16 (Thu)

*Only shortlisted applicants will be notified. 


3. Notice for Submission

  • Beginning this year, the application method will be done DIGITALLY. All Embassy Track applicants are required to create a membership account on the website of Study in Korea (www.studyinkorea.go.kr) and submit their applications to the system within the above-mentioned timeline. Please refer below for the list of required documents and the updated process for online submission:

  • When filling out the “Choice of University and Department” section of (Form 1) Application Form, applicants must ensure their adherence to the following:

  • oFor GKS (General): Applicants can choose up to THREE (3) different universities with at least one (1) Type B university. If applicants fill out a Type A university in a Type B section, their application may be excluded from evaluation. 

  • oFor R-GKS: Applicants can choose up to TWO (2) different Type B universities only. 

  • Applicants who are expected to graduate by 31 December 2025 must first submit a certificate of expected graduation at the time of application. If such applicants pass the first round of selection, they must submit a graduation certificate (or a degree certificate) and a transcript by 31 December 2025. Failure to comply will result in the CANCELLATION of one’s acceptance. 

  • oApplicants who submit their provisional graduation certificate will be considered as applicants who are expected to graduate. 

  • ONLY the selected candidate will be mandated to submit a physical copy of their application by 21 October 2025 (Tue) and will be formally notified by the Embassy for further instructions. 

 *On 14 May 2019, the Republic of the Philippines became a party to the Apostille Convention. Therefore, documents issued in the Republic of the Philippines must be apostilled by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Republic of the Philippines.
