Ambassador Hong Seok-in attended the opening ceremony of the special exhibition “De Tweede Kamer en de ‘Vergeten oorlog’ in Korea” on July 1, 2025 (Tue), hosted by Mr. Martin Bosma, President of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands, in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Korean War dispatch.
During the event, Ambassador Hong spoke with Korean War veterans Herbert Kuin, Kees Kortlever, and Ton Verveer, as well as Henny den Ouden, a bereaved family member of a veteran, expressing his deep gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice.
At 3:00 p.m. on the same day, Mr. Bosma delivered opening remarks at the plenary session, marking the 75th anniversary of the House’s decision to send troops to Korea. He recognized and extended appreciation to the attending veterans, their families, members of the veterans’ association, and Ambassador Hong. Members of the House responded with a prolonged 30-second applause.
The Korean Embassy contributed materials on the participation of Dutch forces in the Korean War, collected over the past years, to support the organization of the exhibition. The exhibition is open to the general public and can be visited by advance registration.
