한미 외교장관회담 모두 발언

Thank you, Tony. It's a great honor to be here today, and I am grateful for your warm welcome to me and my party.

Just six days have passed since we met in Rio. You were also the very first to call to congratulate me on my first day in office.

And I look forward to seeing you again in 3 weeks for the 3rd Summit for Democracy you have just committed to attend, which I very much appreciate.

The frequency of our encounters underscores the depth and strength of our partnership, which culminated in President Yoon’s historic state visit last year, the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US alliance.

So, this year marks the beginning of a new year in the annals of our Alliance continuously growing to new heights.

President Yoon and President Biden reaffirmed their determination to expand and strengthen the alliance as a Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance through five successful meetings.

In the face of regional and global challenges, the Republic of Korea and the U.S. have always moved in lock-step.

We are one in condemning North Korea’s increasingly provocative rhetoric and actions that violate multiple UN Security Council resolutions including its export of munitions and ballistic missiles to Russia.

We continue to stand together in supporting Ukraine. And we are united in condemning Houthi attacks and work together to uphold navigational rights and freedom in the Gulf of Aden.

All of our actions are possible thanks to the robust US commitment to the Alliance and its extended deterrence in which Korea has full confidence. There is truly no daylight in our combined readiness posture.

As part of the Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance, our collaboration has broadened to encompass key areas, including economic security, AI, quantum technology, space exploration, and other cutting-edge technologies. They are bringing significant benefits to both our businesses and peoples.

Moreover, we have made historic strides in our trilateral cooperation with Japan as evidenced by the Camp David agreements. Strengthening our trilateral coordination is essential for addressing common security challenges, promoting stability, and enhancing prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

Lastly, the Alliance is sustained and strengthened by the values we share. We are working to stand up for human rights and democratic values. In this sense, I thank the US for its full support in making the upcoming 3rd Summit for Democracy a success.

So, we have much to follow up and I very much look forward to having fruitful and productive discussions with you today. Thank you very much indeed.

우리가 리우에서 만난 지 6일 밖에 되지 않았습니다.

또한 장관님은 제 취임 첫날 첫 번째로 축하 전화를 해주신 분입니다.

장관님께서 방금 제3차 민주주의 정상회의 참석을 약속해주신 데 대해 깊이 감사드리며, 3주 내 우리가 다시 만날 날을 기대하겠습니다.

이렇게 빈번한 우리의 만남은 작년 윤 대통령님의 한미동맹 70주년 기념 국빈 방미를 통해 정점에 도달한 한미간 파트너십의 깊이와 강력함을 잘 보여줍니다.

올해는 계속 더 커지고 있는 한미동맹 역사가 새롭게 시작되는 해입니다.

윤 대통령과 바이든 대통령은 다섯 차례의 성공적인 회담을 통해 한미동맹을 글로벌 포괄 전략 동맹으로서 더욱 확장하고 강화하기 위한 의지를 재확인했습니다.

지역적, 세계적인 도전에 맞설 때마다 한미 양국은 항상 발을 맞춰 오고 있습니다.

우리는 북한이 더욱 도발적으로 위협하고, 러시아로 탄약과 탄도미사일을 수출하는 것을 포함한 다수 유엔 안보리 결의를 위반하는 행위를 자행하는 데 대해 한 목소리로 규탄하고 있습니다.

한미는 우크라이나 지원에 있어서도 계속 함께 하고 있습니다.

양국은 단결하여 후티 반군 공격을 규탄하고 있으며, 아덴만 내 항행의 권리와 자유 수호를 위해서도 협력하고 있습니다.

우리의 이러한 모든 협력은 미국의 한미동맹과 확장억제에 대한 강력한 공약이 있기 때문에 가능하며 한국은 이를 전적으로 신뢰하고 있습니다. 우리의 연합준비태세는 진정 빛샐 틈이 없습니다.

글로벌 포괄 전략 동맹의 일환으로, 양국의 협력은 경제 안보, 인공지능, 양자기술, 우주 탐사, 그리고 여타 최첨단 기술과 같은 주요 분야로 확대되었습니다. 이러한 협력은 양국의 기업과 국민들에게 큰 혜택을 가져다주고 있습니다.

더욱이, 캠프 데이비드에서의 합의들에서 확인되는 것처럼, 한미는 일본과 함께 한미일 협력에서 역사적 진전을 이루어냈습니다. 한미일 간 공조를 강화하는 것은 공동의 안보 위협에 대응하고 인도·태평양 지역 내 안정과 번영을 증진하기 위해 꼭 필요한 것입니다.

마지막으로, 한미동맹은 양국이 공유하는 가치를 기반으로 지속되며 강화되고 있습니다. 양국은 인권과 민주적 가치를 수호하기 위해 협력하고 있으며, 이러한 차원에서 제3차 민주주의 정상회의 성공을 위한 미측의 전적인 지지에 감사드립니다.

우리가 함께 논의해야 할 사안들이 많습니다. 오늘 장관님과 함께 유익하고 생산적인 협의를 갖기를 기대합니다. 감사합니다.
