Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Lee Jaewoong

November 11, 2025  14:30  KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun will visit Canada from November 11 to 14 to attend the expanded sessions of the second G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in 2025.

The upcoming G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be held to discuss detailed issues in foreign affairs and economic security, following the G7 Summit in June.

The Korean government, attending the meeting at the invitation of Canada, this year’s G7 Presidency, will strengthen the Korea-G7 partnership and enhance Korea’s standing as a responsible global power.

The main agenda for the expanded sessions are maritime security and prosperity, as well as energy security and critical minerals, all of which are closely related to Korea’s key economic issues.

Meanwhile, Minister Cho will also hold separate bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of major participating countries, and exchange views on bilateral relations, substantive cooperation, and regional issues.

Next, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Jina will deliver opening remarks at the 7th International Conference on Action with Women and Peace, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 13.

The International Conference on Action with Women and Peace has been held annually by the Korean government since 2019 to lead global discussions in the field of Women, Peace, and Security (WPS).

Particularly, the seventh conference will be held under the theme “Priorities and Innovation for the Future,” marking the 25th anniversary of the WPS agenda. Participants will also discuss forward-looking agendas, including the potential and risks of AI and emerging technologies, as well as the enhancement of youth participation.

For more details on the event, please refer to the press release distributed yesterday.
