Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Yoonjoo will visit Mongolia from August 21 to 23 to attend the tenth Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).

FEALAC is the sole multilateral inter-governmental consultative mechanism participated by a combined 36 East Asian and Latin American countries. The upcoming meeting will take place six years after the ninth of its kind held in 2019.

In the meeting, Vice Minister Park will share with other participants Korea’s contribution to the development of FEALAC and discuss with them concrete and practical ways for cooperation toward enhanced connectivity between East Asia and Latin America.

During his visit to Mongolia, Vice Minister Park will also pay a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh.

Moving on, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Yoonjoo will hold a bilateral meeting with Secretary General of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Maria Laura da Rocha in Seoul on the afternoon of August 26.

During the meeting, the Vice Minister and the Secretary General will discuss ways to promote cooperation in a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, aerospace, energy transition and climate change.

In addition, the two sides will sign the Exchange of Notes between Korea and Brazil on the Establishment of a Bilateral Working Holiday Program, which is expected to help boost youth exchanges and thereby promote friendly ties between the two countries, and to offer Korean youth more opportunities to build presence abroad.

On the same day, Vice Minister Park, together with Secretary (Bilateral - East & West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Md. Nazrul Islam, will hold the fourth Korea-Bangladesh Policy Consultation in Seoul.

Korea will take the opportunity to seek increased cooperation in a range of areas with Bangladesh, its key partner in South Asia, and thereby broaden its diplomatic horizon.
