Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

First, let me tell you the position of the government of the Republic of Korea on the resolution on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The ROK government welcomes that a resolution on the situation of human rights in the DPRK, co-sponsored by 63 countries including the ROK, was adopted by consensus by the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly at its 77th session on November 16.

As stated in the resolution, the ROK government is deeply concerned about the exacerbated human rights and humanitarian situations in the DPRK due to measures following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ROK government urges the DPRK to immediately take effective measures to improve the human rights and humanitarian situations in the DPRK in accordance with the recommendations contained in the resolution.
