Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will have a meeting with the Ambassadors of the ten ASEAN member states to the Republic of Korea tomorrow, Friday, January 21.

The forthcoming meeting will serve as an opportunity to review the achievements made in the New Southern Policy to date and to explore a future direction for ASEAN-ROK cooperation.

The meeting will also cover ways to step up economic and security cooperation between the ROK and ASEAN in response to the changes in the global economic landscape, including the restructuring of global supply chains.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to promote mutually beneficial advancement of the New Southern Policy through active communication and consultation with the ASEAN member countries.
