Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha, together with Minister of National Defense Jeong Kyeongdoo, will chair at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 22 the first meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial, which will take place in Seoul in 2021.

The UN Peacekeeping Ministerial, the upcoming meeting of which will be the 4th since its launch in 2016, is a major high-level UN meeting in the areas of peace and security attended by delegates from UN member states of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations. In the forthcoming Preparatory Committee meeting, relevant government agencies and organizations will discuss plans regarding preparations for the Ministerial as well as ways to work together.
