The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a Korea-U.S. Public Diplomacy Caravan event in Louisiana and Alabama, the United States, from October 26 to 28, with Kang Kyung-wha, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United States, serving as head of the Caravan, and Cho Hyung-hwa, Deputy Director-General for Public Diplomacy and Cultural Affairs, as its deputy head.
The Caravan event aims to review the progress in ROK-U.S. manufacturing supply chain cooperation across key industries, including shipbuilding, maritime, energy, and automotive. It also seeks to enhance local understanding of the importance of the ROK-U.S. economic partnership, particularly in the South Central U.S., a strategic investment destination for Korean companies.
In Louisiana, two conferences will be held -- one on “Shipbuilding, Security, and Supply Chains: The ROK-U.S. Maritime Partnership” at Tulane University and the other on “Investment, Innovation, and Advanced Manufacturing” at Louisiana State University. There will also be a business roundtable with local business leaders and Korean companies to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the ROK and Louisiana.
In Alabama, the delegation will meet with state government officials to strengthen ties with the local government and visit HD Hyundai Power Transformers and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama to hear directly from the businesses and reaffirm the strategic value of ROK-U.S. cooperation in the energy and automotive sectors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to expand its policy communication and public diplomacy outreach in the United States to strategic locations, including the South Central region, through on-the-ground initiatives linked to key investment hubs for Korean businesses.
