The government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide USD 500,000 in humanitarian assistance to Honduras through international organizations operating on the ground to support the country’s response to the drought that has continued since May.

※ According to the urgent humanitarian appeal of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) (September 22), an estimated 620,000 people in the 103 municipalities under red alert are suffering from malnutrition due to food shortages and are facing Crisis or worse levels of food insecurity (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Phase 3 or above), a situation in which households must sell off assets to sustain their livelihoods.

The Korean government hopes that this assistance will help the affected communities return to their daily lives as soon as possible.
