Korea-Poland G20 Sherpa Meeting

G20 Sherpa Kim Hee-sang met with Marcin Przydacz, Poland’s G20 Sherpa and the Head of the International Policy Bureau at the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, on March 18 on the occasion of his visit to Korea. The two sides exchanged views on ways to cooperate in preparations for the Miami G20 Summit to be held on December 14-15 this year.


* Kim Hee-sang was appointed as Korea’s G20 Sherpa (the government representative to the G20), on March 14, 2026.


Sherpa Kim expressed his expectation that Poland, which has been invited to the G20 Summit for the first time this year, would constructively contribute to discussions on key agenda items (△Trade, △Economic growth and deregulation, △Innovation, and △Energy abundance).

      - (G20 members) Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Russia, China, Brazil, India, Mexico, Indonesia, Türkiye, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, the EU, and the AU

      - (Invited country) Poland

      - (Guest countries) Spain, Azerbaijan, Finland, Ireland, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan


** Poland is the sixth-largest economy in the EU and Korea’s fifth-largest trading partner within the EU. Korea and Poland have been deepening cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, infrastructure, and the defense industry.


In response, Sherpa Przydacz proposed that the two sides maintain close consultations throughout the preparations for the Summit, building on the strategic partnership between Korea and Poland.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work closely with major countries to eusure Korea’s substantive participation in this year’s G20 Summit in Miami. The Ministry will also continue making steady preparations for Korea’s successful hosting of the G20 Summit in 2028, following the United Sates in 2026 and the United Kingdom in 2027.
