The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the “Korea–Cuba Friendship Concert: Musical Journey from Havana to Seoul” at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., December 2 (Tuesday), at Prugio Art Hall.
Following the establishment of their diplomatic relations in February 2024, Korea and Cuba have continued to engage in cultural and youth exchanges robustly. To mark the first anniversary of diplomatic ties, the Ministry invited the rising Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble Los Hermanos Abreu Trio and reknowned Latin percussionist Yaroldy Abreu to perform alongside Seo Jungmin, a Korean 25-string gayageum artist, offering the audience a taste of beautifully converged musical traditions of Korea and Cuba.
Lee Jooil, Director-General for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, “I am confident that this event — where Cuba’s passion meets Korea’s delicacy to create a rich and vibrant harmony — will serve as another building block for strengthening mutual trust and understanding between the two countries.” He added that he hopes the emotions and inspiration evoked by the music of both nations will remain as a warm resonance in the daily lives of all who attended.
