1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun held his first telephone conversation with Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi on July 28 since taking office. The two Ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

2. Minister Wang conveyed his congratulations on Minister Cho’s inauguration and expressed his intention to maintain a close working relationship. Minister Cho expressed his appreciation for the congratulations and stated his hope to work closely with Minister Wang to advance ROK-China relations.

3. The two Ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to steadily advancing the ROK-China strategic cooperative partnership in a mature manner. They agreed to build on the current positive momentum in high-level exchanges and to prepare tangible deliverables that will be beneficial to the peoples of both countries in order to create new momentum in bilateral relations through the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju.

4. During the conversation, Minister Cho extended an invitation to Minister Wang to visit Korea. In response, Minister Wang stated that he would visit Korea at a mutually convenient time. The two Ministers also agreed to continue close communication and cooperation as needed through frequent exchanges.
