1. Regarding the so-called “Dokdo Day” event hosted by Japan’s Shimane Prefecture on Wednesday, February 22, and participation by a high-level official of Japan’s central government, the Government of the Republic of Korea strongly protests against Japan’s reiteration of unjust sovereignty claims over Dokdo and sternly calls for the immediate abolition of the event.

2. As Dokdo is clearly an integral part of the Korean territory historically, geographically, and under international law, the Japanese government must immediately stop making unjustified claims over Dokdo and squarely face history in a humble manner.
