Special Exhibition “United for Peace, Together for a Better Future” Opens to the Public on the Occasion of 2021 Seoul UN Peacekeeping Ministerial

1. On the occasion of 2021 Seoul UN Peacekeeping Ministerial, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense, on December 7-8, a special exhibition titled “United for Peace, Together for a Better Future” opens to the public on December 3, 2021, with an opening ceremony attended by the Vice Foreign Minister CHOI Jongmoon and the Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy, KIM Mangi, on behalf of the Foreign Minister CHUNG Eui-yong and the National Defense Minister SUH Wook.


° This exhibition, designed to introduce UN peacekeeping operations and Korea’s contributions to peacekeeping, is admission-free to the public, and will be open from December 3 through 12, 2021.


° The opening ceremony was joined by Ambassadors representing the countries co-chairing the Ministerial in Seoul, Korean government officials from the Foreign Ministry, the National Defense Ministry and the National Police Agency, former Korean peacekeepers in military and police, and the Youth Peacekeeping Ambassadors.

 

2. On behalf of the Foreign Minister, Vice Minister Choi delivered the congratulatory remarks. He read, “This exhibition was planned and organized to introduce UN peacekeeping operations and the Korean government’s diverse and continued efforts to contribute to peacekeeping to the public.” He added, “I hope that the exhibition serves as an important occasion to shed light on Korea’s steadfast commitment to establishing peace not only on the Korean peninsula but also around the world.”

 

3. On behalf of the Defense Minister, Deputy Minister Kim also read “This public exhibition presents a good opportunity to ponder over the past, the present and the future of UN peacekeeping.” He added, “It will demonstrate Korea’s presence at the center of global efforts for peace by suggesting a future blueprint for UN Smart Camp with Korea’s state-of-the-art information and communications technologies (ICT) and displaying Korean-made equipments that could be used in the field missions.”

 

4. This exhibition consists of four halls, each featuring different subjects : UN peacekeeping operations, UN Smart Camp, peace on the Korean peninsula, and peacekeeping operations equipment. Tickets for the exhibition can be booked online.

° There will also be a social media photo event for visitors at the venue, posting a photo of their visit to the exhibition on social media to win a souvenir item featuring ‘Sepyeong-i’, the official mascot of the Ministerial.
