Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun Attends Meeting with Ambassadors of Arab Countries to Korea

1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun attended a meeting with the Ambassadors of Arab countries to Korea on November 24 and exchanged views on ways to enhance Korea-Arab cooperation.

 

*(Participant countries) Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, and the UAE  

 

2. Vice Minister Choi noted that Korea actively engaged in face-to-face diplomacy with Arab countries this year despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and such efforts will be expanded even further next year.

 

o Vice Minister Choi suggested that Korea and Arab countries enhance their future-oriented cooperation beyond the construction and energy sector.

 

3. The Arab Ambassadors to Korea, including Ambassador Bader Mohammed Al-Awadi of Kuwait who is serving as Dean of the Arab Group of Ambassadors in Korea, shared Vice Minister Choi’s view on deepening Korea-Arab cooperation, and hoped that Korea-Arab high-level exchanges will be revitalized further.

 

4. The meeting, which follows the first meeting between Vice Minister Choi and Arab Ambassadors on June 3, has reaffirmed the close relations between Korea and Arab countries amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and also broadened communication and contacts between the two sides.
