1. During his visit to New York for the 76^th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud of Saudi Arabia on the morning of September 23 in New York and shared views on issues including preparations for the 60^th anniversary of Korea-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations in 2022; ways to step up substantive cooperation; and cooperation in international fora and regional situations.

2. The two Foreign Ministers appreciated that Korea and Saudi Arabia have continued to strengthen their firm and friendly relations, and agreed to expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as political affairs, economy and culture, while carrying out high-level visits on the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of Korea-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations next year.

o Foreign Minister Faisal underlined the importance of Korea as a strategic partner of Saudi Arabia and mentioned that it is necessary to expand the scope of mutual understanding through cultural exchanges and cooperation on the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

3. Foreign Minister Chung noted that bilateral cooperation in the field of infrastructure has contributed greatly to the economic development of both countries, and expressed his hope that Korean enterprises will participate in Saudi infrastructure projects such as the Neom City Project, so as to continue their contribution to the achievement of the goals of the “Saudi Vision 2030.” 

o In particular, the two Foreign Ministers recognized that a nexus between the “Saudi Vision 2030,” a Saudi industrial diversification strategy, and the Korean “Green New Deal” policy will create mutual benefits to both countries, and agreed to strengthen their communication channels such as the “ROK-KSA Joint Committee” and the “ROK-KSA Vision 2030 Committee,” and to seek and implement projects for substantive cooperation.

4. The two Foreign Ministers exchanged their views on the current situation as well as peace and security in the Middle East, and Foreign Minister Chung invited Foreign Minister Faisal to the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial which will be held from December 7 to 8, 2021, in Seoul.
