Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hold Asia-Europe Conference on Cybersecurity

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), will hold the “3rd Inter-Regional Conference on Cyber/ICT Security” on June 22-23 in a virtual format.

 

° Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jongmoon will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Conference, which will be held on the theme of interregional cybersecurity cooperation between Asia and Europe, and about 200 officials and experts from the OSCE’s Participating States and Asian Partners for Co-operation as well as academia and businesses will attend the event.

 

° The participants will discuss global trends in cyber/ICT security, cybersecurity cooperation between regional organizations, a multi-stakeholder approach for enhancing international cybersecurity, and women in cybersecurity policy, and explore ways for interregional cooperation between Asia and Europe in the fields.

 

2. Korea has maintained its partnership with the OSCE as an Asian Partner for Co-operation since 1994 and has been making efforts to lead interregional cooperation in the field of cybersecurity along with the OSCE by co-hosting meetings, including the “Inter-Regional Conference on Cyber/ICT Security” in 2017 and 2019 in Seoul.
