2021 P4G Seoul Summit Campaign Song and Music Video Revealed "We can do it. You are the hero I've been looking for."

□ The 2021 P4G Summit Preparatory Office (Executive Director Yoo Yeon-chul) releases its official campaign song and music video on May 17 on its official website and social media channels along with nine re lated ministries* participating in the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit.

    * Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Oceans and Fishery, Korea Forest Service, Financial Services Commission


 ㅇ The campaign song (titled We Are One) music video was revealed first to build up anticipation, while the track will be released at 18:00, May 18, Seoul time, on Korean music platforms such as Melon, Genie, and Bugs, and the track will be released continuously on global music platforms including YouTube Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and other music sites.

□ The campaign song was produced in two versions, Korean and English, to commemorate the Summit and to communicate with people beyond borders in unison as the current COVID-19 pandemic forced us to practice social distancing.


 ㅇ K-pop lyricist Eana Kim and composer Kim Hyung-suk participated in the production of the track, and singer So Hyang and a children's choir offered their stunning vocals.

 ㅇ The song uses the Marimba (a type of xylophone) along with a moombahton rhythm with the cries of endangered species and create a feeling of humans and animals singing together. Through the musical elements, the song is characterized by expressing the image of harmony between humans and nature living on Earth.

    * Moombahton: A genre that blends house music and reggaeton.


□ The lyrics use the repeated phrase "We Can," to convey the importance of action, representing the Earth threatened by climate change in "grey" with a message that we should all act for the "green" Earth.


 ㅇ The song also refers to people who act for the Earth as "heroes," conveying the courage and hope that we can all become heroes.

□ In addition, the campaign song will donate all music sales revenue, in line with the song’s purpose; responding to climate change and moving towards a sustainable society.


□  Yoo Yeon-chul, Executive Director of the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit Preparatory Office, said, "We tried to embody the meaning of the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit in the global campaign song and express the core values of P4G, 'participation', 'action', and 'inclusiveness.'”
