1. Head of KT’s Global Network Consulting Unit Ko Ki-young has been appointed as Director of the Asian and Pacific Training Center for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT) of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on April 17.

2. The APCICT is the first ROK-led subsidiary body of an international organization in the area of ICT, established (in June 2006) to close the information gap among 62 member states of the UN ESCAP and to nurture human resources who will lead ICT development. The Center, located in Songdo, Incheon, is carrying out ICT training programs for government officials, youth and women in developing countries.

3. New Director Ko Ki-young will begin his term on May 23. A Korean’s appointment as Director of the APCICT following a Korean Founding Director is expected to contribute to the continued development of cooperative relations between the ROK and the UN ESCAP in the Asia-Pacific’s ICT training sector.
