Outcome of Pull-Aside between Korean and Canadian Ministers of Foreign Affairs




1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong had a pull-aside meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Marc Garneau on May 5 on the occasion of the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting in London, the UK, and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including high-level exchanges and regional and global cooperation.



2. The two Foreign Ministers agreed to resume high-level face-to-face exchanges as soon as  COVID-19 situations are stabilized and conditions are created.


 

3. Foreign Minister Chung extended appreciation to Canada for its contribution to the efforts to establish permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, asking for its unwavering support and cooperation for progress in the Korean Peninsula peace process.

 

4. The two Foreign Ministers agreed that Korea and Canada will continue to work closely together as strategic partners in resolving issues of the international community, including response to COVID-19 and human rights, on the global stage such as the G7 summit.
