Notice on Temporary Exemption of K-ETA for 22 countries/regions(as of April 1, 2023)

In Celebration of 'Visit Korea Year(2023~2024)', K-ETA will be temporarily exempted to 22 countries/regions from April 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024(KST)


Please note that nationals of 22 countries/regions can still apply for K-ETA, and K-ETA application fee is 10,000 KRW/per person(around 9~10 USD, additional fees not included). Those who have the K-ETA are not required to submit an arrival card at the port of arrival.


O List of 22 countries/regions eligible for temporary exemption of K-ETA:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Macao, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, UK, US(including Guam)


* Those who got their K-ETA approval can use it until its expiration date

* NOTE : No refund for those who have already submitted the K-ETA application.


(NEW ENTRY MEASURE) -

-BE CAREFUL !:

There are many "unofficial" KETA websites that make you pay an unreasonable amount of money.

The only official website is http://www.k-eta.go.kr/ ,and it costs only 10,300 KRW (approx. 7.70 EUR) per person.

●Remarks→ Citizens whose nationality is not eligible for the K-ETA, OR whose application is not approved (denied) need to apply for a tourism visa (C3-9).

-EXAMPLE : A Belgian citizen living in China → can enter Korea as a tourist after the K-ETA registration. / A Chinese citizen living in Belgium → needs to apply for a C3-9 visa to enter Korea as a tourist.)

General information:


  • 1.The visa issuance currently takes 5 working days (ex. if you submit application on the 1st of January, your visa will be ready on the 8th of January)→ How to pick up my visa? →Things to bear in mind before/after arrival in Korea

  • 2.An extra fee of 36 euros applies for an express visa issuance within less than 5 days and the status of the emergenecy must be proven with relevant documentation.

  • 3.For the holders of Visa Issuance Confirmation Number (사증발급인정번호) → Please contact us by email (euconsul@mofa.go.kr), mentionning your VICN provided by the Korean immigration office.

  • 4.E-Visa (online) applicaiton is NOT availble at our embassy.

  • 5.Visa application must be submitted to our office in Brussels after making an appointment via the online reservation system on : https://consul.mofa.go.kr/en/main.do → (Use the menu : Reservation to visit a diplomatic mission)

  • Any person arriving late will not be accepted at the embassy and will have to make a new appointment.

  • Before coming to your appointment, you should ensure that you have all documents required to issue your visa. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

  • Common required documents for visa application regardless of its type:

  • If you are not Belgian or Luxemburgish national, you must hold a valid residence permit ID issued by the relevant authorities to apply for a visa at our embassy.

  • Visa fee (payment available by cash, Bancontact® OR V Pay®)

  • Single entry visa for a stay of no more than 90 days : 36 euros

  • Single entry visa for a stay of more than 90 days : 54 euros

  • Multiple entry visa :  - 81 euros (applicable for the Working Holiday and F4 visas)

  • US Passport(multiple) : - 40.50 euros

  • The visa application fee differs depending on your nationality (e.g. Ghana: 50$(-90days)/80$(+90days), Russia: 50$/80$, Senegal: 50$/100$, Azerbaijan: 50$/80$, UK: 130$/200$, Austria: 50$/50$, Iran: 50$/80$, Tajikistan: 50$/50$, Kyrgyzstan: 50$/70$, Australia: 80$/120$, Uzbekistan: 50$/70$,etc.) (1$=0.90€)

Required Document

Diplomats (A-1)

  • Temporary duty order, statement of employment or official letter from the Foreign Minister to certify his or her status. (Those documents may be replaced by verbal approval when his/her status is identified by showing his/her identification card, etc.)

A diplomatic passport is required. However, even a person who desires to do his diplomatic duty with a general passport and his family members will be included in this category

Official Duty (A-2)

  • Temporary duty order or statement of employment or official letter from Foreign Ministry to certify his or her status (The statement that he or she is on official duty must be included in the letter)

A diplomatic passport is required. However, even a person who desires to do his diplomatic duty with a general passport or who works for an international organization and his family members will be included in this category

Agreement (A-3)

  • Temporary duty order or statement of employment or official letter from Foreign Ministry to certify his or her status

  • An official passport or identification card is required

Temporary News Coverage (C-1)

  • Temporary duty order or statement of employment issued by the company where he or she belongs, or certificate of foreign news reporter

  • Required documents

  • ① Visa Application Form, passport, one standard-size photograph, fee

  • ② International press card or a document demonstrating your current employment status․overseas assignment

The Chief of Mission may request additional documents to examine the purpose of your stay, genuineness of the invitation and the qualifications of the inviter and the invitee.

Short-Term Business (C-2)

  • Documents proving that the purpose of his or her visit to Korea is business

Short-Term Visitors (C-3)

  • You are eligible to apply for a C-3 Short-Term General visa if you are involved with daily business activities including market research, business communication, consulting, contract and others

  • Going to stay in the ROK for 90 days or less, for tourism, transit, recuperation, visiting relatives, participating in a friendly sporting match, attending events or meetings, cultural art, general training, taking lessons, attending religious ceremony, academic research and others.

    A C-3 visa cannot be issued to those coming to the ROK for profit-making. For instance, if you are compensated for your works and skills, you are not considered an eligible candidate for the C-3 visa.

  • C-3-1 / Short-Term General

  • A person engaging in any of activities covered by the C-3 visa, except those who are eligible to apply for the C-3-2 through C-3-9 visa below

  • Required Documentation

  • ① Visa Issuance Application Form, Passport, One Standard Size Photograph, Certificate of employment or student, round trip flight ticket, hotel booking confirmation

  • ② A document verifying your participation in such events, general training, etc. (i.e. invitation letter)

  • C-3-2 / Group Tourist

  • A tourist or transit traveller among group tourists or individual tourists (including those who have paid the deposits to travel agents designated by the government of the Republic of Korea)

  • Visa Application Form, Passport, Standard Size Photograph, Service Fee, Reference Letter

  • C-3-3 / Medical Tourist

  • A short-term visitor among foreign patients who are also eligible for the medical-patient visa or the Confirmation of Visa Issuance

  • C-3-4 / Business Visitor (General)

  • A person with the APEC business travel card entering the ROK for market research, business communication,consulting, contract and other business activities

  • Required Documents

  • ① Visa Application Form (form #17), Passport, One Standard-Size Photograph, Certificate of employment or student, round trip flight ticket, hotel booking confirmation

  • ② A document proving the purpose of your business(Invitation letter), a copy of the certificate of business registration

  • C-3-9 / General Tourism

  • An ordinary tourist not included in the C-3-2 category

  • Required Documents

    Visa Application Form, Passport, Standard Size photograph, Documents proving your financial ability to pay for your living expenses during your stay in Korea(ex: bank statement) Certificate of employment or student round trip flight ticket, hotel booking confirmation→(If you plan to stay in a private residence, a relevant document such as a housing contract, or letter of guarantee accompanied by the host's Korean Identity card can be substituted for this).

  • visa fee: 36 euros by Bancontact® (less than 90 days, single entry)

  • If you are not Belgian, you have to submit your copy of Belgian ID card

Short-Term Employment (C-4)

  • You are eligible to apply for a C-4 Short-Term Employee visa if you are : Temporary Performance Activities Advertisement․Fashion Activities Lecture․Speeches - A person invited and paid by a government-owned company or a private corporation to give out lectures or public speeches for a short period of time on the basis of a contract

    If the lecturer or speaker is not paid, he/she is eligible for a C-3 Short-Term General visa.

    Research․Technical Transfer

  • Please refer to eligibilities for E-3 Research and E-4 Technical Instructor/Technician status Any employment activity on the basis of a contract with a government-owned company․private corporation

  • Please refer to eligibilities for E-7 Foreign National of Special Ability status Provision of Services

  • A person dispatched to the Republic of Korea, working and receiving wages including relocation allowances from government-owned companies or private corporations on the basis of service contracts Advanced Technology such as Information Technology

  • Persons intending to work in the Information Technology sector of a Korean company (IT), E-Business such as e-commerce, Biotechnology(BT), Nanotechnology (NT), Advanced Materials Industry (metallurgy, ceramics, chemistry), Transportation Machinery, Digital Electronics and Environment․Energy, or technology management

    Simple labor does not qualify for a C-4 Short-Term Employee visa.

  • Required Documents

  • Visa Application Form, Passport, Standard Size photograph

  • Invitation letter and a copy of the certificate of business registration

  • Letter of employment contract

  • Letter of employment recommendation issued by the head of the relevant central government agency(an entertainer needs a letter of performance recommendation issued by Korea Media Rating Board) or an official letter from the relevant government agency or documents proving the necessity of employment

  • Round trip flight ticket, hotel booking confirmation

  • visa fee: 36 euros by Bancontact®(less than 90 days, single entry)

  • If you are not Belgian, you have to submit your copy of Belgian ID card

Culture/Art (D-1)

  • Letter of invitation

  • Documents proving the facts that it is culture and art organization

  • certificate of expert's career will be required in case that the applicant needs his or her instruction

  • Curriculum vitae or certificate of career Documents proving the applicant's capability to pay his or her whole travel expense during his or her stay

  • A above-mentioned expert means a person who qualifies as an intangible cultural assets or who holds a certificate of qualification recognized by government agency

Students (D-2)

  • Associate degree ․ Bachelor's degree ․ Master's degree ․ Ph.D

  • Standard Acceptance letter (issued by the dean/president of the university)

  • Photocopy of Business Registration Certificate of a respective education institute

  • Documents proving the final level of education (can be skipped if you are accepted by one of the following accredited universities)

  • Documents proving your financial ability to support yourself(tuition fee and finance for stay for a year) (can be skipped if you are accepted by one of the following accredited universities)

  • Specific Research Program

  • Standard Acceptance letter (issued by the dean/president of the university)

  • Photocopy of Business Registration Certificate of a respective education institute

  • Documents proving your final level of education(The minimum education requirement is master's degree)

  • Documents proving funds for stay(Bank account balance statement, Research Allowance Confirmation, etc.)

  • If you will study at the certified university by the Ministry of Justice, you can only submit ① and ②

  • ① Visa Application Form, Passport, Standard Size photograph

  • ② Standard Acceptance letter (issued by the dean/president of the university) or Certificate of visa issuance

  • If you will study the other universities , you need to submit ①, ② and the below documents

  • Photocopy of Business Registration Certificate of a respective education institute

  • Documents proving personal finance for stay(considering the tuition is paid in the country of origin)

  • A personal reference letter (The letter shall be submitted only when the applicant cannot prove his/her financial ability to support him/herself during his/her stay) ex. from parents' financial support letter and proving documents

  • Documents proving that you are an exchange student(official documents, student exchange agreement between universities)

  • Documents proving personal finance for stay(considering the tuition is paid in the country of origin)

  • Documents proving that you have completed at least one semester(proof of enrollment issued by your university in your country)

  • visa fee (more than 90 days, single entry 54 euro by Bancontact®)

  • consular may ask additional documents in order to examine the purpose of stay, genuineness of invitation, and qualifications of the inviter and invitee if deemed necessary

Industrial Trainees (D-3)

  • Training program written by training organization

  • Copy of wage or pay ledger

  • Letter of recommendation issued by aliens training company or documents proving the fact that he or she will be trained at the industrial company concerned

  • Letter of personal reference notarized

Student / General Trainees (D-4)

  • A person who would like to receive Korean language training at a language institute affiliated with a Korean university and a person who would like to receive Korean language training invited by the Korea Foundation(D-4-1) or an exchange student who has come to Korea for industrial and academic training via an academic exchange agreement(D-4-2)

    consular may ask additional documents in order to examine the purpose of stay, genuineness of invitation, and qualifications of the inviter and invitee if deemed necessary

  • copy of the certificate of business registration of the education institute

  • A document proving the acceptance or the enrollment of the student (Standardized Acceptance Letter)

  • Training Outline(Including the schedule)

  • An original copy and a duplicate copy of graduation diploma for your final level of education

  • A document proving your financial ability to support yourself during your stay(More than $3,000 worth of saving)

  • A personal reference letter (The letter shall be submitted only when the applicant cannot prove his/her financial ability to support him/herself during his/her stay) ex. from parents' financial support letter and proving documents

  • A copy of the academic exchange agreement between universities(if you are an exchange student)

Residence Reporters (D-5)

  • Temporary duty order or statement of employment

  • Documents related to establishment of branch office in Korea

Religious Workers (D-6)

  • Temporary mission order

  • Copy of a certificate of religious organization or social welfare organization establishment

  • Documents proving facts that relevant organizations pay the applicant's travel expenses

Intercompany Transferees (D-7)

  • Temporary duty order or statement of employment.

  • Copy of a certificate of setting up a branch office or liaison office

  • Documents verifying achievement of business fund borrowing or copy of business project.

  • Certificate of annual tax.

Treaty Investors (D-8)

  • Temporary duty order or statement of employment.

  • Certificate of the foreigner's investment report, including a copy of the register book or certificate of business registration

  • Certificate of registered investment company.

Treaty Traders (D-9)

  • Statement of employment.

  • Copy of the register book or certificate of business registration.

  • Documents regarding business fund borrowing or a copy of the business project.

  • Receipt of annual tax-payment.

Professors (E-1)

  • Certificate of career

  • Employment contract or certificate of expected employment

Teaching Foreign Languages (E-2)

  • Certificate of academic degree or diploma of graduation

  • Employment contract

  • Document regarding establishment of school or organization

  • Letter of personal reference notarized

Research (E-3)

  • Documents verifying the establishment of the inviting organization

  • Certificate of academic degree and certificate of career

Special Technology Instruction (E-4)

  • Copy of approved technology-import contract (or certificate of service transactions) or certificate of designated military defense industry

Specialty Occupation (E-5)

  • Certificate of academic degree and certificate of qualification

  • Letter of employment recommendation issued by the head of the central government agency or documents proving the necessity of employment.

Art and Entertainment (E-6)

  • People who desire to be engaged in performance or entertainment activities at tourist hotels and entertainment places require;

  • Letter of performance recommendation issued by the Image stuff classification committee

  • Performance project

  • Certificate of HIV test

  • Letter of personal reference notarized

  • Other require;

  • Letter of employment recommendation issued by the head of the relevant central government agency or document proving the necessity of employment

  • Certificate of qualification or certificate or career

  • Letter of personal reference notarized

Particular Occupation (E-7)

  • Certificate of academic degree or certificate of qualification

  • Employment contract

  • Letter of employment recommendation issued by the head of the relevant central government agency or documents verifying the necessity of employment

  • Documents regarding the establishment of a public or private organization

  • Letter of personal reference notarized

Training Employment (E-8)

  • Contract training employment

  • Letter of recommendation issued by the head of the training company

  • Certificate of technology qualification

  • Letter of personal reference notarized

  • Documents that Justice Minister deems necessary

Visiting & Joining Family (F-1)

  • People who visit family or relatives who live in the Republic of Korea require;

  • Documents proving relationship of family or relatives (certificate of marriage register book or certificate of birth)

  • Letter or personal reference notarized

    People abroad require a certificate of confirmation or statement of adopting parents

  • Domestic helpers of diplomats in the Republic of Korea require;

  • Official letter issued by foreign embassy or con

  • Employment contract

  • Copy of diplomat's ID

  • Foreign students enrolled in elementary/ junior/ high school require;

  • Certificate of school enrollment or school attendance

  • Certificate of adapted person's annual tax-payment

  • Workation (Digital Nomad) Visa (F-1-D)

  • Visa application form (attached) , Valid passport, Passport quality photo(1), Fee (81euro)

  • Employment letter that proves one's current employment and at least 1 year of employment in the past (Issued within 2 weeks from application date)

  • Salary, income proof (Payslip, Recent 3 months' Bank statement)

  • Belgian/Luxembourgian Backgound check/Police Certificate (Issued within 6 months, affixed with apostille) *

  • Medical Insurance Proof (including coverage details)

  • Family relationship Certificate (in case of family's visa application)

*If you have lived more than 1 year in a foreign country, you will also need to submit that country's Background check/Police certificate with apostille.

  However, you are exempt from submitting Background check/Police Certificate if you are 13 year old or younger. 

  (Garda Police Certificate is exempt from those who are 15 year old or younger)

※ The head of Korean diplomatic missions abroad may request for additional documents depending on the condition of the country of residence/jurisdiction if it is deemed necessary for visa evaluation.

Residence/ spouse of Korean national (F-2)

  • People who are granted a status of stay or who change the status require;

  • Documents certifying that an applicant has continuously lived at his or her permanent address in Korea

  • Letter of personal reference notarized (but a child of a person having residence status is excluded)

  • No documents for extension of stay are required

Dependents (F-3)

  • Document proving family relationship (certificate of marriage & Register book or certificate of birth)

  • Statement of employment and certificate of tax-payment

Korean Residents Abroad (F-4)

  • A Korean-born foreigner who had Korean citizenship before his/her obtaining a foreign nationality

  • Substantiating documents for an applicant's ex-Korean nationality such as Korean family tree register

  • Substantiating documents on the reason and the time of obtaining a foreign nationality

  • Other documents which are deemed to be necessary by the Ministry of Justice

  • An immediate family member of a Korean-foreigner who obtained foreign nationality

  • Substantiating documents that prove his or her parent's ex-Korean nationality

  • Substantiating documents on the reason and the time of obtaining a foreign nationality of the applicant's parents

  • Substantiating documents which establish the relationship of the family such as a certificate of birth

  • Other documents which are deemed to be necessary by the Ministry of Justice
