The Ministry of Justice has decided to extend the temporary exemption from the Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA), which was implemented to support the revitalization of the tourism industry, by one additional year, and will apply it until 31 December, 2026.

* Extension period of the temporary K-ETA exemption: 1 January, 2026 – 31 December, 2026 (KST)

This extension applies to countries currently benefiting from the temporary K-ETA exemption, including Belgium. Nationals of the eligible countries will see a “K-ETA Exemption” pop-up when scanning the identity page of their passport during the K-ETA application, allowing them to confirm their eligibility.

However, even if you are a national of an exempt country, you may still apply for a K-ETA and pay the applicable fees if you wish to enjoy the benefits of submitting a K-ETA application (e.g., exemption from completing a separate arrival card).

Le Ministère de la Justice a décidé de prolonger d’un an la mesure d’exemption temporaire du système d’autorisation électronique de voyage (K-ETA), mise en place dans le cadre du soutien à la relance de l’industrie touristique, et de l’appliquer jusqu’au 31 décembre 2026.

* Période de prolongation de l’exemption temporaire K-ETA : 1er janvier 2026 – 31 décembre 2026 (KST)

Cette prolongation s’applique aux pays bénéficiant actuellement de l’exemption temporaire K-ETA, y compris la Belgique. Les ressortissants des pays concernés verront apparaître un message pop-up « Exemption K-ETA » lorsqu’ils scannent la page d’identité de leur passeport lors de la demande d’autorisation électronique de voyage (K-ETA), ce qui permet de vérifier leur éligibilité.

Cependant, même si vous êtes ressortissant d’un pays bénéficiant de l’exemption, si vous souhaitez profiter des avantages liés à la demande de K-ETA (par exemple, dispense de formulaire de déclaration d’entrée), vous pouvez quand même faire la demande de K-ETA et les frais de traitement s’appliqueront.

Het Ministerie van Justitie heeft besloten de tijdelijke vrijstellingsmaatregel voor het elektronische reistoestemmingssysteem (K-ETA), die werd ingevoerd ter ondersteuning van de toeristische sector, met één jaar te verlengen tot 31 december 2026.

* Periode van verlenging van de tijdelijke K-ETA vrijstelling: 1 januari 2026 – 31 december 2026 (KST)

Deze verlenging geldt voor de landen waarvoor momenteel de tijdelijke K-ETA vrijstelling van toepassing is, inclusief België. Burgers van de betreffende landen zullen bij het scannen van de identiteitsgegevenspagina van hun paspoort tijdens de aanvraag van de elektronische reistoestemming (K-ETA) een pop-upmelding “K-ETA vrijstelling” zien, zodat zij hun status kunnen controleren.

Echter, ook als u staatsburger bent van een land dat voor vrijstelling in aanmerking komt, kunt u alsnog een K-ETA aanvragen en de toepasselijke kosten betalen als u wilt profiteren van de voordelen die verbonden zijn aan het indienen van een K-ETA (bijvoorbeeld het niet hoeven invullen van een apart inreisdocument).
