Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

 

On February 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha will attend the high-level segment of the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation. She will also attend the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Stockholm Initiative on Nuclear Disarmament and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a foreign ministerial meeting between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin, Germany, on February 25.

 

On February 26, she will attend a foreign ministerial meeting between the ROK and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in London, the UK.

 

During the Human Rights Council session, Minister Kang will mention human rights issues of interest of the ROK government, as a member of the Human Rights Council for the 2020-2022 term. At the Conference on Disarmament, she will explain the ROK government’s efforts toward denuclearization and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.  

 

At the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Stockholm Initiative on Nuclear Disarmament and the NPT in Berlin, the Minister will exchange views with delegates from other non-nuclear states on nuclear disarmament issues. During the ROK-Germany and ROK-UK foreign ministerial meetings, the two sides will discuss bilateral relations, substantive cooperation, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and the 2nd Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit to be held in Seoul in June 2020.
