Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

On November 13, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha will chair the 5^th Plenary Meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the 2019 ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit.

At the meeting, the officials will review the overall progress in preparation for the upcoming Summit including its deliverables and major special events.

The government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) will make utmost efforts to the end in the preparation for the Summit which will be held in about 10 days.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Sei-young will attend the 16^th Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum and deliver a keynote speech on November 13.

Vice Minister Cho will stress the need to broaden the scope of cooperation between the ROK and the Middle East to include comprehensive economic areas, expand cooperation base and develop into a partnership to prepare together for the 4^th Industrial Revolution era.

Under the theme “Mapping Paths to New Frontier of Korea-Middle East Cooperation,” the upcoming Forum is expected to serve as an opportunity to expand and identify potential areas of cooperation between the ROK and the Middle East, as well as to share and communicate with general public on the ROK’s diplomacy towards the Middle East.
