Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Relations Noh Kyu-duk

December 11, 2018  15:00  KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

First, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun will hold the 4th Republic of Korea-Kingdom of Cambodia vice ministerial-level joint committee meeting with Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Eat Sophea in Seoul on December 13.

The two sides will discuss ways to advance relations between the ROK and Cambodia, which marked the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations last year, in a future-oriented manner, as well as ways to step up bilateral cooperation in implementing the New Southern Policy.

They will also exchange views on the situations on the Korean Peninsula and in other regions, and ways the ROK and Cambodia can work together on the global stage, including the ROK-ASEAN and ROK-Mekong mechanisms.

Moving on to the next topic, the Foreign Ministry will hold an ROK-Japan concert titled “Wear Culture” at the concert hall in the Centennial Memorial Hall at Yonsei University tomorrow.

The event will consist of two parts -- book concert and music concert -- and feature authors Mitsuyo Kakuta and Ito Ogawa, as well as the Yang Bang-ean band, Depapepe and Lalasweet.

In addition, Ambassador for Public Diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry Bahk Sahng-hoon and Ambassador of Japan to the ROK Yasumasa Nagamine will attend the event and deliver congratulatory remarks.

The concert is expected to help the ROK and Japan increase empathy through culture and art, and deepen mutual friendship and understanding.

Thank you.

(A question-and-answer session followed.)
