Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

First, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, who is on a visit to the United States to pay respects to the late former President George H. W. Bush, will meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on December 6, local time.

Moving on to the second and last topic, Vice Foreign Minister Lee Tae-ho will attend the third Republic of Korea-United States Senior Economic Dialogue in Washington DC on December 7, local time.

The ROK-US Senior Economic Dialogue is an economic consultative mechanism between the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US Department of State set up to seek ways to broaden the scope of bilateral economic cooperation. Its upcoming round will mark the first of its kind since the inaugurations of the incumbent governments of the two countries.

In the meeting, the two countries will review the progress in bilateral economic cooperation and discuss the possibility of closer cooperation in various sectors.

Vice Minister Lee Tae-ho will also attend the “ROK-US private-public economic forum” to come on December 6, local time, in conjunction with the Dialogue, where he will deliver a keynote speech, highlighting the need for closer cooperation between the governments and private sectors of the two countries and putting forth a future vision regarding the bilateral ties.
