Press Briefing
Deputy Spokesperson Kim Deuk-hwan
August 14, 2018 14:30 KST
Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.
We once again extend deep condolences to Indonesia, where a powerful earthquake that struck the island of Lombok on August 5 and continuing aftershocks have left a number of people killed, injured or displaced.
Regarding this, the ROK government sent President Moon Jae-in’s telegram of condolence to Indonesian President Joko Widodo on August 7, and provided US$500,000 in humanitarian aid to Indonesia through the country’s Red Cross Society on August 10.
We hope that the Indonesian government will repair the earthquake damage quickly, and the Indonesian people will restore peace in their everyday lives as soon as possible.
Thank you.
