Press Briefing
Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Relations Noh Kwang-il
Apr. 2, 2015 15:00 KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Today, I have two announcements to make.

First, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will meet with Peng Qinghua, Communist Party Chief of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, on April 6.

For your information, Communist Party Chief Peng of Guangxi will visit the Republic of Korea from April 4 through 8 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.

In the meeting, the two sides will discuss ways to increase exchanges and cooperation between the ROK and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

During his visit to the ROK, Communist Party Chief Peng will also make a courtesy call on the National Assembly Speaker; hold a meeting with the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy; hold promotional events on investment in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the 12th China-ASEAN Expo.

Moving on the second and last announcement, the UN Development Cooperation Forum (DCF) Republic of Korea High-level Symposium 2015 will take place in Songdo, Incheon, from April 8 through 10.

The event will bring together some 220 high-level delegates from the governments and private sectors, including civil societies, academias and parliaments, of 50-odd countries for discussions on ways to attain the post-2015 development goals to be set in September 2015.

Amid the growing international interest in the post-2015 development goals, the symposium will be attended by a number of top-level officials of international organizations, including the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will meet with these delegates from international organizations to discuss ways for the ROK to contribute to international efforts to eradicate poverty and resolve other global issues.

I will conclude today’s briefing. Thank you.
