Phone Conversation between Foreign Ministers of ROK and Kingdom of Morocco
1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha spoke over the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco Nasser Bourita on the morning of March 30 at the latter’s request, and exchanged views on the two countries’ cooperation to cope with the spread of COVID-19.
2. Minister Kang asked for the Moroccan government’s special care and cooperation to provide necessary support for Korean nationals staying in Morocco and for those hoping to return home, and Minister Bourita promised active support for them.
3. Minister Bourita highly commended Korea’s disease control capabilities, such as diagnostic testing capacity, to combat COVID-19. The Minister expressed Morocco’s willingness to purchase medical equipment, including the COVID-19 testing kits manufactured in Korea, and asked for Korea’s cooperation on the purchase. Also, the Minister asked for Minister Kang’s attention to continue the close cooperation between the two countries.
o As for the equipment requested by Morocco, Minister Kang said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make efforts on its part to provide as much as possible, with due consideration on the domestic needs.
4. Minister Kang stressed the importance of international cooperation to overcome the COVID-19 outbreak, and Minister Bourita offered to continue to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in dealing with the pandemic.
