1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato' Saifuddin bin Abdullah exchanged celebratory letters on February 23 to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Korea (ROK)-Malaysia diplomatic relations.

2. The two Ministers of Foreign Affairs noted that the ROK and Malaysia had advanced friendly relations as very close neighbors on the basis of fruitful outcomes made across the board over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960.

° In particular, Minister Kang noted with appreciation that the ASEAN-Republic of KOREA Commemorative Summit and Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad’s official visit to the ROK had taken place successfully in 2019 on the basis of close cooperation between the two countries.

3. The two Ministers of Foreign Affairs agreed to expand cooperation by paving the way for increased trade and investment as well as jointly seeking future growth engines, and to take the bilateral relations to a higher level for a bright future of the two countries.
