1. On the afternoon of February 12, Vice Minister Cho Sei-young met with delegates of the Korea Society, who were on a visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK). The Vice Minister was briefed on the Korea Society’s activity plan for the year 2020 and exchanged views with the delegates on the ROK-U.S. relations as well as the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

° During the meeting, Vice Minister Cho offered congratulations to former U.S. Ambassador Kathleen Stephens on her inauguration as Chairperson of the Korea Society in January 2020 and commended the Korea Society for its contribution to the ROK-U.S. relations, including through the launch of “the Korean Professionals Group in New York” in 2019.

° Vice Minister Cho also explained the ROK government’s efforts on denuclearization and the peace process on the Korean Peninsula as well as for the development of the ROK-U.S. alliance. On that note, he asked the Korea Society to continue to play an active role for further advances in the ROK-U.S. relations.

2. The delegates of the Korea Society extended appreciation to Vice Minister Cho for his hospitality and expressed their hope that the ROK side would continue to cooperate as the Korea Society implements its various undertakings planned for the year 2020.
