1. A government delegation of the Republic of Korea (ROK), led by Minister of National Defense Jeong Kyeongdoo, visited the Sultanate of Oman and attended a mourning event for the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said on January 14.

2. Minister Jeong arrived at Al Alam Palace for the mourning event around 10:40, January 14, local time, and relayed condolences from President Moon Jae-in to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, who received the mourning delegations. His Majesty Sultan Haitham extended appreciation to the ROK government for sending the delegation, asking to convey his gratitude to President Moon.

3. After offering condolences, Minister Jeong had a separate conversation with Minister Responsible for Defense Badr bin Saud, who also took part in the mourning event. During the conversation, the two sides agreed to continue the ROK-Oman cooperation on national defense and the defense industry during the tenure of the new Sultan on the basis of the outcome of the bilateral defense ministerial meeting held in October 2019.
