Secretary of Shandong Provincial Committee of CPC to Visit ROK at Invitation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs
1. Mr. Liu Jiayi, Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, will visit the Republic of Korea (ROK) as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ invitation project for influential figures of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
2. During his visit to the ROK, Secretary Liu will attend the events to be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs -- a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a luncheon to be hosted by a Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs -- and pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, during which the two sides will discuss ways to promote the relations between the ROK and the PRC and between the ROK and Shandong province. In a bid to step up cooperation between provincial cities of the ROK and the PRC, he will also visit Gyeonggi-do and Busan Metropolitan City and attend various exchange events in the fields of economy, culture and tourism.
3. Shandong province is an area with a deep bond with Korea in terms of geography and history as well as the one where the larger number of Korean enterprises is doing business than anywhere else in China. In that light, Secretary Liu’s forthcoming visit to the ROK is expected to serve as an opportunity to increase people-to-people exchanges and to boost economic cooperation between the ROK and Shandong province in new industries.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to hold such projects as the
invitation project for leaders of Chinese provinces in order to promote
exchanges between the two countries’ provincial governments, which will serve
as a basis for the development of the ROK-PRC relations.
