1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Tae-ho met with Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Grete Faremo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 25, 2019.

2. Vice Minister Lee commended UNOPS for its leading role in reinforcing the efficiency of international development cooperation as a key UN agency in the field of infrastructure construction and procurement.

3. Executive Director Faremo introduced UNOPS efforts in utilizing innovative technologies in its operation on the field. Vice Minister Lee mentioned that the government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) is also interested in innovative approach in development cooperation and suggested further expanding the mutual cooperation in this area.

4. Furthermore, Vice Minister Lee requested UNOPS’ broader attention to participation of competitive Korean enterprises in the UN procurement market. In this regard, he introduced the ROK government’s efforts to promote Korean enterprises’ presence in the global procurement market which include a UN procurement seminar in Seoul and dispatch of a market searching mission.
