1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the 2nd round of its 2019 invitation program for public security officials of foreign countries on October 21-26 with the aim to pave the way for active cooperation with governments of foreign countries in the event of incidents, accidents and disasters involving nationals of the Republic of Korea. For the forthcoming program, a total of 18 public security and disaster-related officials of 15 countries including the United States of America have been invited to the ROK.

° The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held the biannual “cooperation project for the protection of the overseas Koreans,” to which public security officials of foreign countries are invited, since 2015 for the purpose of building networks for better protecting the overseas Koreans. 

2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will introduce in detail to the foreign officials the ROK government’s system for protecting the overseas Koreans, including the Crisis Management Division and the Consular Call Center that are in operation around the clock as well as its travel advisory system. The Ministry will ask the participants that their governments pay special attention to protecting the Koreans staying in those countries.

3. Given that public security authorities of foreign countries are playing significant roles in protecting overseas Koreans, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue efforts to reinforce the foundation of cooperation with those public security authorities.
