1. At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a 19-member delegation of the People’s Republic of China, composed mainly of mid-level officials from foreign affairs offices of Chinese provincial governments, will visit the Republic of Korea (ROK) on October 14-18, 2019, for an ROK-China future-oriented exchange project.

2. The ROK-China future-oriented exchange project marks its 20^th anniversary this year. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by holding this invitation project for China’s mid-level provincial government officials in charge of international exchanges, has contributed to exchanges between provincial governments of the two countries.

3. During its visit to the ROK, the Chinese delegation will meet with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and tour Changdeok-gung palace and the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. With the year 2019 having been designated as “Visit Suncheon Year,” the delegation will visit Suncheon, an eco-city, during which it will tour an urban regeneration center and a steel mill in Gwangyang in a bid to enhance its understanding of the ROK.

° In particular, in order to further step up communication and exchanges between provincial government agencies of the ROK and China this year, the ROK’s municipal and provincial government officials in charge of international exchanges have also been invited to take part in an exchange program with their Chinese counterparts, which will mark the first such case.

4. The purpose of the ROK-China future-oriented exchange project is to offer China’s provincial government officials in charge of international exchanges opportunities to have first-hand experiences in and understand Korea. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to actively help boost exchanges between provinces of the two countries.
