1. During her visit to the United States for the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha had a bilateral meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi on the afternoon of September 26, during which the two sides exchanged views on issues concerning the Republic of Korea (ROK)-Japan relations.
2. Ministers Kang and Motegi explained their respective countries’ positions on the pending issues, including those regarding forced labor and Japan’s export restrictions.
3. With respect to North Korean issues, the two Ministers shared the understanding that coordination between the ROK and Japan is important.
4. Ministers Kang and Motegi, sharing the view that it
is important to keep making efforts to develop the ROK-Japan relations in a
future-oriented manner, agreed to continue communication and consultations
between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries at various levels, including the
ministerial level.
