1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), will hold the final round of the “2019 Quiz on Korea,” a global quiz show on Korea, at KBS Hall, Seoul, at 17:00-20:00, September 21.

2. The “Quiz on Korea” is a cultural public diplomacy project conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After its preliminary round is held at overseas diplomatic missions of the Republic of Korea (ROK), the winner from each participating country is invited to the ROK to compete in the final round.

° The preliminary round of the eighth “Quiz on Korea” took place at the ROK’s diplomatic missions across the world between March and June. On the occasion of the preliminary contests, various side events, including Hansik (Korean food) tasting, Hanbok (traditional Korean garment) try-on and Seoye (calligraphy) events, as well as performances by K-pop fan clubs, were also held as opportunities to promote Korean culture.

3. The 20 finalists will visit the ROK on September 15-22. While in the ROK, they will experience traditional Korean culture and visit major tourist attractions in Seoul and Ganghwa Island, Incheon, and will compete vigorously in the final round of the “2019 Quiz on Korea” at KBS, Seoul, on September 21.

4. All of the ROK nationals and Hallyu (Korean Wave) fans across the world may apply to come and watch the final round in person. Those interested should apply at the KBS World website at http://kbsworld.kbs.co.kr by September 15.

° The final round of the “2019 Quiz on Korea” will be broadcast on KBS 1TV and KBS World in about 100 countries from 11:00, October 9, as a special program marking the Hangeul (Korean language) Day.

5. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to hold firsthand cultural events, such as the “Quiz on Korea,” to offer opportunities for foreigners with a shared interest in Korea to gain correct knowledge on Korea and build friendship with one another. In addition, the ROK’s diplomatic missions across the world will hold a variety of cultural events in active efforts to raise their host countries’ understanding of and interest in the ROK as well as to promote the country’s international image.
